This is a useful volume for introducing the diverse range of family unit types to children, who may not have experienced or be aware of this variety. The linguistic communication used is suitable for immature children, although very immature children may not be able to access all of the content in the story. This could as well be used for children experiencing a blending of families, as the story conveys the bulletin that all families are perfectly ordinary - all that matters is that you are happy inside the family. Furthermore This is a useful book for introducing the diverse range of family unit types to children, who may non have experienced or exist aware of this variety. This book thoroughly explores the many ways in which families come to exist. I like it for its inclusiveness (GLBT, mixed race, adoption, foster care, test tube babies, etc) but it does seem like a LOT of information for a kid to process. Parents might find their kids have more than questions after reading this one than before--which is certainly not a bad thing, just something the adult should exist prepared for.

A look at the many different means people go function of a family. This is the but book I've read that mentions IVF, which I appreciate since my girl is an IVF infant.

I really liked Hoffman's "The Nifty Big Book of Families" so I expected to like this i too. Unfortunately, at that place were many things I did not like nearly this volume. For one, the book claims that "the joined cells are put into a adult female'south tummy to grow" and I can't stand this misinformation. Babies practice not grow in tummies; they abound in the uterus! Allow's teach our children proper terminology. I too didn't capeesh the "male person cell" and "female person jail cell" fleck, equally this is rather trans-exclusionary. I really liked Hoffman'southward "The Great Big Book of Families" so I expected to like this one too. Unfortunately, there were many things I did non like about this book. For i, the book claims that "the joined cells are put into a woman'south breadbasket to grow" and I tin can't stand this misinformation. Babies practice not grow in tummies; they grow in the uterus! I like this expect on exploring different types of families. And while I appreciate that they covered the fact that things can be bumpy in those families I feel like it was a bit negative for my taste.

I also don't feel like all family types were covered. Although at that place was a really good representation.

Mary Hoffman teams with Ros Asquith to familiarize M-iii students with many types of families. I would love to have this book in an elementary library but there may be backlash from some parents. This book discusses having two mommies or two daddies or being in a blended family or a foster home. Many of these situations exist in classrooms across Canada and are never discussed. This volume is a neat discussion starter.

This is a great book for children from all kinds of families. I like that information technology is supportive and positive about the many different kinds of family situations in that location are in the globe. Information technology is pretty text-heavy, and then it would be amend for an older child or 1 with a longer attending span. Information technology's likewise very realistic! In same approach used in The Not bad Big Book of Families, this book explores all the different ways a infant or kid can become part of a family unit, including natural birth within a nuclear family, adoption, fostering, same-sex parents, and many other aspects of bringing babies or children home.

A wonderful multicultural book about families for all to bask. The text is touching and funny at times and the illustrations by Ros Aquith are only wonderful! Kudos Ladies on a wonderful book.
